Tomorrow is youngest daughter’s move-in day at her new college! Soooo…. this week, there has been a lot of shopping and washing clothes and packing and organizing and checking lists and crossing things off the list and making last minute phone calls about random stuff and hoping that we didn’t forget anything and of course lots of mixed emotions of excitement & pride & sadness at her leaving…… Not much got done in the studio or in my office. I have a HUGE list of things I want to accomplish in the next month, but when I haven’t been busy helping daughter get ready and have actually found a little time to get some stuff done… I am so distracted at the thought of her leaving that really NOTHING got done this week. I guess next week I will settle back into a routine (which sadly doesn’t include daughter coming home at 3:00 everyday to tell me about her day…)

Also this week- oldest daughter started her brand new job, which is also very exciting! She graduated in 2012 with a teaching degree, and last year she worked for a substitute teacher agency. This year, she has a job as a high school English and Journalism teacher and has her very own classroom! We are excited for her, but honestly I am so happy for the students she will be teaching. She is so passionate about her subject and she is going to be a really excellent teacher!

So, with all that’s been going on, there has been no painting, no sewing, not a lot of cooking…. The only thing I have managed to work on is my wool sampler quilt while watching TV in the evenings- which I have been working on for about 4 years now! I am just limping toward the finish line… someday, someday, it will be done. Actually all of the blocks are done, right now I am working on the borders. If you want to see photos of the quilt in progress, you will have to go all the way back to my old blog! (And of course, since I’ve put 2013 on it- I actually have to finish it this year, right???)

By the way, this is Settler’s Pride by Maggie Bonanomi, which I started all the way back in 2009. Here are the photos of the blocks from my old blog:
