MaggiesFirstDanceFreeBlockOfTheMonth-JacquelynneSteves-1

Oh, Friends- can you believe we are at the end?? While the BOM lasts for about 6 months, Maggie and I have been “dancing” for over a year now! It was over a year ago that I designed her and chose the fabrics that we would be using. It’s a bit like having your children grow up and move out of the house- the promise of peace and quiet sounds nice, but you know that you will miss them terribly!!!

Last year, at this time, I had the next BOM planned… but I’m running a little behind this year… getting our new Club up and running took up a good chunk of time over the last couple of months. But don’t worry- my mind is turning over some ideas for 2017’s Block of the Month!

Whether you’ve been with us from the very beginning, or if you just joined in today, I hope you have been enjoying it!! For me, it is such a thrill to see people making and loving a pattern that I have designed…   Getting your emails and seeing your posts on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter is soooooooo much fun!

Remember- soon the free pattern links will be de-activated (somewhere around the end of this month, or the beginning of December). Please download and print and/or save the pattern PDFs- once the links are deactivated, I WILL NOT be giving out the patterns!! Thanks!

(Please note- the patterns do NOT appear here on my blog or website, you must sign up by clicking here and they will be delivered to your email. Yep- they’re free!)

As usual, we are having a great GIVEAWAY this month! Please read through this post to the bottom to find out how to enter.

And now, onto the fun!

I made 2 versions of the blocks, machine applique and hand embroidery. For the machine appliqued blocks, I made the block as shown in the pattern, using 5 setting blocks. Here is my finished quilt:

My friend Danny used her long-arm machine to quilt a cute flower in the “blank” centers of the setting blocks:

Here’s another closeup. I like how the gray corners of all the blocks create that secondary “little block”:

And a peak at the back! You can really see the gorgeous quilting! (and of course, a cute quilt needs a cute quilt label!)

For my embroidered blocks, I decided to make a table runner. I omitted the setting blocks from Month 5, and just added some gray 1 1/2″ sashing strips and borders (finished size 1″ wide). I can’t wait to get this quilted! I think these colors will be a cheerful addition to my decor for just about any season! (Many of you have asked about these fabrics- they are from several different fabric lines, including Camelot and Moda.)
